MAC Cosmetics Joins Forces With Rihanna

MAC and Rihanna will be collaborated for four color collections for later on this year. The first product we’ll see is MAC RiRi Woo–inspired by Ruby Woo–that will launch to coincide with her concerts on May 4th and 5th. It will be sold online and at Rihanna concerts. The four collections will be released throughout 2013 will be called RiRi [Hearts] MAC with a total of 31 stock keeping units.
The summer portion will be sold online, which includes two additional lipsticks, Lustre Drops, and a blush duo. The third will be in stores for fall and feature sixteen products, such as lipsticks, a Lip glass version of RiRi Woo, two eye shadow palettes, and false lashes. The final installment will be in-stores in time for the holidays with ten products, like nail polish, makeup bag, and more lipsticks. RiRi Woo will be sold in all four collections.

And she has landed a pretty sweet deal with MAC Cosmetics. MAC and Rihanna have collaborated on several color collections launching this year, according to WWD.
The first item out: RiRi Woo, a lipstick inspired by her favorite MAC red, Ruby Woo.
"When you think of makeup, the brand that pops into your mind — for something legit — is MAC," the singer told WWD. "Whatever color you want, it's like 'Let's go to MAC.' I've been using MAC on tour for such a long time it was a natural fit for me. I have always loved makeup, and I always said that if I do it, I want to do it with a credible brand."
For MAC, it marks the first time the brand has worked with a celebrity one more than just a one-off Viva Glam product. And for Rihanna, the deal enabled her to be a makeup artist.

"I really got to play," Rihanna told WWD. "There's so much to choose from, and you can mix different textures with different colors and different greens in different eye shadows. I learned so much about the detail of makeup and what makes things look different. What makes it apply different is really important. Every little detail is important."
While MAC Cosmetics have worked with other well known celebrities in the past, this is the first fully collaborative long-term arrangement, where Rihanna has been fully involved in all the creative aspects; she was given unprecedented involvement in the packaging, colours, textures and finishes, working alongside MAC's Jennifer Balbier, Senior VP of Global Product Development and James Gager, Senior VP & Creative Director. Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott shot the campaigns to be released in fall and for the holidays.
